The city of Porto, with over 1500 years of history, gave the name to Portugal very early on (200 BC), when it was called Portus Cale. Known worldwide for its wine, its bridges and its Historical Centre, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, Oporto is a city full of character, considered in 2013 by Lonely Planet as the best European destination for its food, living culture, and photographic landscapes. We will visit the distinctive Historical Centre, with its medieval origins. From the bustling Cais da Ribeira you will have an unforgettable view of the other side of the river and the famous Port Wine Lodges, where the wine is made and matured, which we will visit. You will taste two different Porto wines.
From the riverside area of Vila Nova de Gaia, where the lodges are situated, you will have a view of the St. Luis Bridge and the incredible scenery of the river and the city. You will also have the opportunity to admire Avenida dos Aliados, the City Hall, S. Bento Station with its beautiful tiles, Sé Cathedral, Palacio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Palace) Torre dos Clérigos (famous church tower), Casa da Música (House of Music) and the Serralves Foundation, with its museum of contemporary art, as well as churches and other emblematic buildings of the city.
